1000-Mile Project

My goals for 2012:

1. Ride 1000 miles for the Himalayan Childrens Charities (this goal remains the same as last year’s),
2. Raise at least $1000 for the charity, and . . .
3. Ride 60 Miles in ONE DAY on or around the time of my 60th Birthday!

The 60 mile goal is lofty since I’ve never ridden over 20 in one day before! Also, since I only raise $500 for the orphans last year, my goal has doubled in that department.

1000-Mile Project

I only managed to ride 2.9 miles today at Best Friend Park, mainly because this is the first ride I’ve made since finishing the project a week ago at Stone Mountain. I will need to build my endurance back since I plan to ride my age (59 miles in one day) – on 5 separate occasions this year.  However I see I’ll have to get my butt back in gear. . . !

Its so dadgum HOT  this summer too . . .

Unicycle Ride for Charity

I’m now in that “Limbo Stage” of my project – I’ve completed the 1000 miles before my August 1st deadline, but don’t want to just sit idly resting on my laurels either… So, after a week’s rest from riding, I took the Gold Goose over to Best Friend Park and pumped out 3.9 miles. Total mileage to date is 1012.5.

Although I felt good getting the legs rolling again, I also noticed more than the usual fatigue and sweat afterwards.  This was probably due to the fact that, after my return home,  a severe summer rainstorm set in!

The evening was spent with friends celebrating my wife Brigitte’s job layoff after 14 years!  She’s home now, and on a cleaning binge and generally enjoying life until its time for the next phase.
