Returned to Tybee Island, Georgia, again to visit our friends Chuck and Melinda. Rode my unicycle past the lot that used to be home of the house that burned there on April 16th, 2011 (the lot is for sale, btw). Today’s mileage – less than a mile.
Is it possible for a 58-year old guy to ride 1000 miles in less than a year . . . on a unicycle? If not, don’t tell Michael Craig. He just did it – at Stone Mountain Park today . . . arriving at the mountain entrance parking lot after circling the mountain and traveling 5.2 miles to put him over the top! Afterwards, the group (Jason, Rena, Brigitte and Michael) celebrated with a Kentucky Fried Chicken banquet at the Craig’s.
Added another 4.6 at Best Friend. I wanted to save the last 5 miles for a group ride (and celebration) at Stone Mountain Park tomorrow. The exact mileage total after today’s ride: 994.8.
The DISadvantage of being ahead in your goals is that too many times you end up putting them off until the last minute. While I certainly can’t say this is the last minute (I have more than 20 days left to complete 14 miles), I have been putting my attention on other things for almost 2 weeks. Today I broke that habit and logged 4.3 miles at Best Friend. The mileage after today’s ride stands at 990.2
Brigitte and I install a pool in preparation for our Fourth of July backyard BBQ and “Pool Party” (I was the only one who actually went IN the darn thing) !
With the completion of 5.2 miles at Best Friend Park on June23rd, and 17.4 miles today (Saturday, June 25th), I’ve traveled a grand total of 985.9 miles towards the 1000-mile goal, with over 75 miles this month in spite of the almost daily thunder showers.
I traveled 6.6 miles for my Unicycle Ride for Charity on the Alpharetta Big Creek Greenway today to reach over 963 miles in my quest for 1000 by August 1st! With only 37 miles to go, I plan to hit the mark before July 1st!
1000-Mile Project

My total project mileage to date is 951.6 miles, and 41 miles in June. With less than 49 miles to go, I’m stoked!!
Brigitte and I, along with Yvette, Scott, Beth, Dahlys, and another friend, headed over to Eclipse di Luna at Park Place Mall in North Atlanta Friday night (6/10/11) to do some serious salsa dancing…
I hardly saw anyone today as I unicycled 5 miles around Stone Mountain Park. Total miles to date: 936.5.
